Nov. 22, 2013. Passing the Time#Hospital

It is so important to be nearby when a family member is hospitalized. A supportive comment and genuine smile can mean much to the patient. Often, however, they are sleeping, and there is not much one can do to be supportive. I brought plenty of reading materials with me to pass the time these last three days, and it did make the hours go by. This morning, before leaving my house, I gathered a half dozen recent magazines that we had already read. I left them in the waiting room for other people to peruse as they also pass the time waiting for their loved one to recover. I hope it makes their days seem less long.
