| Fun Run

I had the opportunity today to volunteer for my village fest from 7 am until 4 pm. Working the fun run in the morning followed by hours of serving up ice cream, I was surrounded by residents and visitors, young and old, who were delighted to be enjoying a beautiful day next to the river listening to music, playing in the bouncy house, interacting with the EMTs and Border Patrol while slowly savoring ice cream cones. The arrival of a helicopter brought oohs and aahs when it landed beside us. It doesn't take much hoopla to bring people together and give them the opportunity to chat with old friends and make some new acquaintances. It is human nature to connect with others. Today was the perfect occasion to celebrate the spirit of our small community.
